Education Initiatives

The Eagle Initiative funds a variety of education initiatives.  Through its partnership with Faith West Academy, The Eagle Initiative provides funding to teachers for innovative programming such as:

  • ELA example
  • STEM example
  • Fine Arts example
  • FFA example

The Eagle Initiative also helps fund an international studies program for more than 20 international students, mostly from China. Many of these students live and study at the Faith West community, which is an authorized Department of Homeland Security Student Exchange and Visitor Program site. The students are immersed in English language classes and home life, participating in many after-school activities together with their house parents. Supported by funds from the Eagle Initiative, Faith West is also building an extensive English-As-A-Second Language (ESL) program in conjunction with a school in China. In addition to English, the Academy is currently working with the Chinese school to produce curriculum in biology, mathematics and other core subjects.

Health & Fitness Programs and Events

The Eagle Initiative is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of the mind and body.  We sponsor and number of events throughout the year aimed at teaching the importance of physical fitness and nutrition.

Eagle Fun Run

More than 400 elementary and junior high students participate in an annual fun run and fitness event. In addition to the run, students participate in a Fitness Zone with a physical fitness expert, a Nutrition Zone with learning games led by a nutritionist, a Fun Zone with games and physical fitness activities and much, much more.

Community Service Projects

Children's Protective Services (CPS) Christmas Dinner

Every year, The Eagle Initiative costs approximately 100 foster children from Children's Protective Services (CPS) for an annual Christmas dinner and program. The children receive a visit from Santa along with gifts and the opportunity to spend a special night out during the holidays.

Summer Camps

In the summer, The Eagle Initiative scholarships approximately 200-250 elementary school age children from local partner agencies such as Friends of Sundown and Neighborhood Kidz Club, enabling them to enjoy a week of summer camp activities, including zip line, water trampoline, water slide, paddleboat, canoes, fishing and swimming. Children also receive lunch, a free T-shirt, face painting, sports, games and more.

Child Protective Services (CPS) Adoption Event

Also in the summer, The Eagle Initiative partners with Children's Protective Services (CPS), Faith West and many private sponsors to host approximately 60 junior high and high school age children for a special Adoption Event at Lake West. Many of these children have lived in indescribable circumstances and tend to have a "hard heart." As a result, they have developed a tough outer shell, making it hard to see their true colors. Placing them in a more relaxed setting allows potential adoptive parents to see a different side of the children and increases their chances for adoption. This even has been very successful, leading to the adoption of several children.
